springtime at zara (and crushing disappointment)

you can not believe my disappointment when a) i realized that zara STILL does not have online shopping capabilities (i mean, what IS that?? this is 2011! this is pure insanity!) and b) the century city zara sales girl told me that they were completely sold out of my size in this jacket at all california zara stores.  its almost difficult for me to go to the mall to visit the zara store because i am so sure that i am just going to be let down when they dont have any of the cute stuff i saw online.  bleh.  anyway - here are some of my favorites on the zara site right now (not guaranteed to be available to anyone in stores though).

first of all, i think its time to invest in a playsuit.  this one - by malene birger - is the epitome of adorable.  i want to be wearing it right this second with a long flowy skirt while drinking a pimm's cup on a rolling lawn somewhere waiting for a picnic to be set up.  oh, and obviously i would be wearing a wide brimmed hat too.  a girl can dream...

my mom, the style icon

in what seems like a fateful turn of events, i stumbled upon a book called 'my mom style icon' when i was at sugar paper in the brentwood country mart looking for a card for my mom for her 60th birthday.  i say fateful because i had just spent a week looking through all of my mom's old photo albums and scanning pictures of her to use for a slideshow (that ended up being a display instead...).  the book is based on piper weiss' blog, my mom, the style icon, which ties in so perfectly to my experience the last week with my mom's old photos.  in honor of my mom's 60th birthday, which we celebrated last night in san diego with her wonderful friends and family, i am putting up some of my favorite images of my mom.  happy birthday mom, i love you very much xo

a ring

i love this engagement ring featured on stylemepretty (equally love the bride's cowboy boots and dress - gotta love them texans ;)  its not that often that a ring really catches my eye, but this one is so different from other ones i've seen, and the photograph (by anne marie photography) captures it so well.
