shopping in istanbul: vintage

i got home last sunday from an amazing trip to london, florence, lake como, and istanbul.  there is incredible shopping in all of these locations, but it was a shop in istanbul across the street from the historical (and very cool) pera palace hotel that was my favorite retail discovery on my entire trip.  i popped in by chance (my mom wanted to look in the store just next door) and when i saw that the store was filled with vintage, i got so excited i almost had to sit down.  the store is called original seconds, and those of us who dont live in turkey are so lucky that they have a website and online boutique! the prices on the site are in turkish lira, and right now the exchange rate is about 1.65 turkish lira for every us dollar. i absolutely fell in love with istanbul while i was there, and i hope to be able to go back to original seconds in the not too distant future.  here are some shots i took of the shop:

i was stopped dead in my tracks when i came upon a recent post on style me pretty (the ultimate wedding blog) that featured a wedding dress by claire la faye.  the photos are insanely gorgeous, which is no surprise because they were taken by mr. jose villa (if you have planned or are planning or are even thinking about planning a wedding you have no doubt heard of him... and one of my friends was lucky enough to snag him for her wedding day in february... soooo excited to see her pics), but the dress is really what caught my eye.  for those of you preparing to get hitched you should check out her site www.clairelafaye.com... some really pretty options await you.

anniversary

a little while ago i posted on my favorite white blouses... well intermix now has my absolute favorite chelsea flower blouse in red, blue, yellow, and coral and i am in love all over again.  this is one of the most comfortable and versatile tops i own in white, now to decide what color i should pick up...

i admit it - i am completely obsessed and it may have gotten a little bit out of control.  i justified a khaki pair over the weekend by telling myself they are seriously appropriate work pants (though i totally admit i wear all colors of them to work anyway, even if some might consider it less than appropriate to sport bright orange pants to work...) obviously i am talking about j brand's 811s, which come in almost all the colors you can dream of and fit perfectly and are so comfortable and remind me its summer even if i am trapped inside an office building all day (and last week, all night too - think 3:30am... so painful).  moving right along, here are some of the pretty 811s:
